29th October 2015 : Winjit Technologies was a part of the decision makers and innovators gathering at the MIT Media Lab Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts on the occasion of the Lab’s 30th anniversary. This talk also highlighted the concept of making “Smart Cities Solution ” through “Smart Citizens” leveraging technology on day-to-day basis.
India’s Kumbh Mela is used as an incubator center for Smarty city start up ideas. Kumbathon is technically a hackathon for the event for which around 100 students were shortlisted. In addition, these students were divided into 20 teams to develop apps and website. Kumbhathon is a task to develop new ideas after identifying problems that the visitors might face during the religious congregation. Kumbh Mela is the largest religious gathering in the world and was just held in Nashik.
The delegates from Nashik presented their experience of working on this mega event and the how technology helped make things easier. Events like these which have a requirement of ‘pop-up-cities’ are growing all over the world and the case study of Nashik and Kumbathon can be used by the world. Thus making Nashik the innovation hub becomes a natural choice owing to the keen interest from MIT in developing the Kumbathon concept.
